It is inseparably tied with the Monza Circuit. It was built in mere 6 months in 1922. Ernst Hemingway called it "the biggest bluff of Europe, because it was supposed to become a manifestation of the fascist regime's ability. Despite all objections the circuit prevailed with some modification up to day. However, the first GP took place in Brescia in 1922, which is thus the second European country to organize automobile races. There were several versions of Monza: a full road circuit 9998m, a track with a raised curve 4270m, the "Florio" circuit 6824m, the short "Florio" 3976m, the "Florio" with retarders 6500m and 6952m, a major circuit without the raised curve 6264m and finaly the road circuit 5780m, which has been raced on until now.
