The GP of Spain didn't go well from the beginning. Thanks to the Trulli's car problem, the start was repeated and only 65 out of the original 66 laps were taken. J.Trulli started from the pit lane. The second start was all right, though it was neck and neck, Massa and Alonso, who went into the gravel because of a contact, immediately passed by Hamilton and Räikkönen. Massa gains the advantage of 2.116 s as soon as the second lap, in the lap 63 the R.Schumacher's nose cone is exchanged and A.Wurtz retires. Lap 57 - M.Webber in the pit stop, lap 56 - K.Räikkönen retires from the third place due to the front wheel suspension problem. Lap 55, the final straight - Speed literally loses the rear tire, which falls appart quickly. In the lap 46 F.Massa's car catches fire leaving the pit stop, the fire dies out and Massa continues the race. In the lap 45 V.Liuzzi retires.

At that moment the track is 47°C and the air shivers at 36°C. In the lap 43, coming out of the pit lane, the teammates misunderstand each other and Button collides with Barrichello, Button loses his front wing, changes it in the lap 42, whereas he needs a push from his mechanics to return to the race. In the lap 41 N.Heidfeld loses the front wheel nut and goes on without it, the trouble is dealt with in the next lap and he resumes the race. Ch.Albers is punished by stop and go for ignoring the blue flag. Even after the second pit stop, Massa keeps his leading position thanks to his huge advantage, coming first in the race, Hamilton is second and Alonso third. Hamilton becomes the leader of the Championship. He is compared to E.Fittipaldi. He is a candidate for the Climber of the Year in F1 in 2007. R.Kubica reaches a very good fourth place and T.Sato wins the first point for Super Aguri F1, celebrated as a hero after the race.
